About Demet

Being of Turkish descent with its heartwarming culture Demet was born and raised in a country of opposites. With rainy weather throughout the year Belgium had its raw artistic view on life and Antwerp as the heart of independent fashion. Demet worked as a stylist and fashion buyer in Belgium until she moved to Cape Town in 2007 and continued studying fashion Design. Finally in 2009 travelling to Los Angeles to work for designer Michelle Jonas was the last chapter before independency.

Demet Karatas is a label for quintessential smart, silk tops ,dresses  and stylish leather jackets. The design aesthetic is understated, providing customers with quality and beauty in luxe fabrics but their niche is their focus on being affordable quality. Each piece is presenting an essential yet luxurious product that sets the bar high for quality over quantity.

Only the finest of fabrics are used as each material is hand selected and infused  in the design process cultivating an expert fit. Demet Karatas promises that every style delivers an amazing fit with every detail being carefully calculated, from French seams to a bias binding finishing, each style is designed with the customer in mind.
